Mary Cregan was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1996, and has lived in the area since. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting Concentration) from the University of Dayton in 2018. Ever since, she has dedicated herself to her studio practice, working additional jobs across multiple fields to supplement income.

Her work is introspective and process-based. Spending hours alone, often making quick decisions only to paint over them later, is the modus operandi employed.

 

Mary's days in the studio are made up of quick progress and movement, with some detail-oriented breaks between. But the time from start to realization (or close) of a piece of work is often long. Rarely does the initial plan match the final product.
